10 Gbps Enterprise Fiber: Dedicated, Symmetric, Delivered on AS35661

10 Gb/s guaranteed in both directions, contention ratio 1:1, no shared segment.

Contractual 4-hour GTR, BGP session included, LAN2LAN between your sites.

Virtuasys operates its own network (AS35661) across 5 datacenters and a 100 Gbps+ backbone. Your 10G circuit terminates on infrastructure we run ourselves, not on a reseller's white label.

Is 10 Gbit/s Really Possible for a Business?

Yes. 10 Gb/s is a standard delivery rate on dedicated point-to-point fiber (FTTO). The circuit runs from our POP to your premises on a fiber pair reserved for you, terminated on a 10GBASE-LR optic. Nothing is shared with other subscribers, so the 10 Gb/s you sign for is the 10 Gb/s you measure, upload included.

This is a different product from consumer or FTTH Pro offers advertising "up to 8 Gb/s": those run on a shared GPON tree where throughput varies with your neighbors' usage and upload is capped. Our enterprise fiber page covers the full FTTO range from 100 Mb/s to 10 Gb/s.

If you are comparing architectures before an RFQ, read FTTO vs FTTH for the structural differences: dedicated pair versus shared tree, contractual GTR versus best effort, guaranteed symmetry versus asymmetric caps.

Who Actually Needs 10 Gb/s

Inter-site replication and backup

Replicating 10 TB overnight requires roughly 2.5 Gb/s sustained for 9 hours. At 10 Gb/s the same window drops under 2.5 hours, which makes daily full backups and short RPO replication realistic.

Cloud and hybrid infrastructure

Direct, symmetric access to IaaS platforms and your colocation racks. 10 Gb/s absorbs storage migration, VM mobility and burst egress without saturating the office uplink.

Media, CAD and large file workflows

A 500 GB rush transfers in about 7 minutes at line rate instead of over an hour at 1 Gb/s. Post-production, engineering and imaging teams stop queuing on the pipe.

MSPs and hosting providers

Aggregate customer traffic, VoIP trunks and management VPNs on one guaranteed circuit with BGP, instead of stacking best-effort accesses.

High-density offices

300 users on videoconferencing, SaaS and VDI consume 3 to 6 Gb/s at peak. 10 Gb/s keeps headroom for growth without a mid-contract upgrade.

GTR 4h: What the Contract Commits To

GTR (Garantie de Temps de Rétablissement) is the contractual maximum time to restore service after an incident. Ours is 4 hours, 24/7, with financial penalties if we miss it. It applies to the dedicated circuit end to end, because we operate the network that carries it.

4 hours, around the clock

Nights, weekends and public holidays included. The clock starts at incident acknowledgment, not at business opening.

Penalties, not apologies

Service credits are written into the contract. You do not have to negotiate them after the outage.

One responsible operator

AS35661 is our network. No ticket ping-pong between a reseller and the infrastructure owner.

BGP Session and LAN2LAN on Your 10G Circuit

eBGP session included

Announce your own prefixes, take a full table or a default route, build multihoming. If you do not have an ASN yet, our ASN registration service handles the RIPE process. No competitor in this market sells BGP on access as a named deliverable; for us it is line one of the datasheet.

LAN2LAN layer 2 between sites

Extend your LAN between two sites at 10 Gb/s over a point-to-point layer 2 circuit, with jumbo frames and your own addressing. Details on the L2, wavelength and dark fiber page.

1 Gb/s or 10 Gb/s: How to Decide

Take your peak 5-minute utilization, not your average. If a 1 Gb/s circuit exceeds 60 percent at peak, replication windows slip and interactive traffic degrades; that is the operational threshold for moving to 10 Gb/s.

The physical infrastructure is identical (dedicated fiber pair), so an FTTO circuit delivered at 1 Gb/s can generally be upgraded to 10 Gb/s by changing optics and port, without new civil works. If you are between the two, deploy 10G-ready hardware (SFP+ cages) on day one.
